The fact that a lot of things can lead to a driving experience going south quickly means that you have a lot of valid reasons to feel anxious. When you go through our driving classes here at Smart Drive UK, the fear and doubts associated with driving will be properly dealt with. Today, we have developed a system that is focused on helping you to develop your driving skills while tackling your nervousness. High first time pass rate

Most learner drivers think it is normal to fail a driving test on the first attempt. The number of people that fail their driving test may be high, but the number that passes the test the first time is also high. Statistics have shown us time and time again that a first time pass is the most likely outcome of your driving test. Failing a driving test is disappointing, both financially and emotionally, and it will cost more time and money to prepare for another test. If you are looking for a driving school with lessons that fully prepare you to pass your driving test, Smart Drive UK is one of the best options. We take pride in the fact that, as a driving school, our first time pass rates are among the highest across the UK.

What type of car will I be learning in?

We have students who only want automatic driving lessons, just as there are others who prefer to learn in only manual vehicles. We can cater to both groups, so the choice ultimately comes down to you. Whatever option you choose to go with, you will be in good company, as there are lots of manual and automatic drivers in the UK. Can’t work out the best option for you based on your requirements? Can I begin my driving lessons before I have passed the theory test?

Many people will think about passing the theory exam before taking practical driving lessons. This system has it benefits, as you will then know enough about using a car before getting behind the wheel. As experts in the industry, however, we know that it is best to combine both theoretical and practical training. This allows you to immediately see how theory works while behind the wheels. Another advantage to starting your driving test right away is that you will be better prepared for the theory exam.

How often should I have my driving lessons?

We understand that schedules differ from individual to individual. However, it’s recommended that learner drivers have at least two hours of training each week. Book your tests

What is the process of booking a test like?

It is best to book your driving test directly via the official Gov.UK website. If you book it through third party websites, you could end up paying more than you should. Booking a driving test comes after you have passed the hazard perception test and theory test. Not clear enough? Don’t worry, our instructors at Smart Drive UK will be available to guide you through every stage of the process.

How long will it take before the tests are completed?

The driving test has five aspects, which include an eyesight check, driving ability, safety questions, vehicle reversing, and independent driving. Both automatic and manual transmission is given the same treatment during testing. You’ll only spend about 40 minutes taking the actual driving test.

What happens on test day?

The first stage will test your eyesight by making you read from a number plate, but before that, you will have to show your theory test certificate and your provisional license. Next, you will have to demonstrate your knowledge by answering a series of show and tell questions, but only if you pass the eye test. After this stage, you are required to prove to the examiner that you can successfully complete a reversing manoeuvre, plus drive safely and effectively on different types of roads. You will have to drive without guidance for about 20 minutes, in which the examiner may ask you to stop to test your ability to manage an emergency. Approximately 40 minutes will be sufficient for you to complete the driving test. Although taking the practical driving test can be a nerve-racking experience, it’s important to remember that everything you will encounter during the process is something you have performed several times during the course of your driving lessons.

What follows after the test?

What happens before you get your full driving license?

Great job acing that practical driving test. The next step is to apply for a full driving a license. The examiner will send the results of your practical driving test to the DVLA, who will process your license. You should expect to receive this within three weeks of passing the practical driving test. You can count on Smart Drive UK for guidance throughout the process of getting a driver’s license. Until you have been officially licensed as a qualified driver, our job is not done.

Is it sensible to do driving lessons before passing the theory test?

Often students are told by other companies that practical driving lessons shouldn’t be started until the theory test has been completed. It does make sense to understand driving and cars better before commencing practical driving lessons. Smart Drive UK takes a slightly different approach; we believe that the combination of theoretical and practical training at the same time can be more beneficial. The combination creates a synergy that makes it easier to grasp elements of driver training at the same time. Those that start practical driving lessons and then take the theory test tend to pass more easily.

How long should I expect driving lessons to last?

We understand it’s important to plan your driving lessons around your other daily activities. The length of lessons will be decided based on your aptitude and the instructor you work with. The training system that we use, and the structures of the courses we run, mean that most lessons tend to be around two hours. Give us a call if you would like lesson schedules that can get you to your goal faster over a longer period.

We can arrange driving lessons on several days in a row to speed your progress toward your practical driving test. No matter what your daily schedule looks like, we have you covered.

If you have your car you may feel more comfortable during driving lessons in it. This is not only understandable but also a great idea, especially if you plan to use the car for your driving test. If you have a new car that you are trying to get used to then this can make even more sense. We’re more than happy for you to use your vehicle for driving lessons and for practicing driving at Smart Drive UK.

However, this is only possible if the car is roadworthy, registered and comprehensively insured. Will verify that your car is right for your lessons by inspecting your papers, and your insurance company will have to be notified about the driving lessons in the car.
