High first time pass rate
Many learner drivers believe that it is perfectly fine to fail the driving test the first time. The fact is, there is no guarantee that you will fail your first test, because many people have also passed. Statistics show that there is a higher probability of passing your driving test the first time. Failing a driving test will leave you feeling very disappointed, when you factor in the mental stress and finances that went into the training. If you are looking for a driving school with lessons that fully prepare you to pass your driving test, Smart Drive UK is one of the best options. We take pride in the fact that, as a driving school, our first time pass rates are among the highest across the UK.

What are the types of cars available for learning in?
We know that there are many students that want to learn how to drive in manual cars, and there are also those that prefer automatic transmission. Your choice of learning car is ultimately down to you, as we have both types. Manual and automatic cars are equally popular across the UK, and your choice is completely to your wishes. If you’re not sure what type of car fits your unique requirements, don’t worry, our experienced staff can help you make the right choice. (please note automatic cars are subject to availability). Call us today on 07760 767170 for expert advice.
Is it right to begin my driving lessons before I have passed the theory test?
Many people will think about passing the theory test before taking practical driving lessons. That thought process isn’t entirely wrong, as this method will give you adequate background knowledge on using a car before you actually get in the driver’s seat. Here at Smart Drive UK, however, we understand that it is best to combine both theoretical and practical training. The combination creates a synergy which makes it easier to grasp both elements of driving training at the same time. Another advantage to starting your driving test right away, is that you will be better prepared for the theory test.
What is the length of time for each lesson?
We know you’d like to better plan your day, so you’ll want to find out how long it will take you to complete a lesson. The length of time spent on each lesson will depend on your learning ability, and the teaching methods deployed by the instructor. However, our system of training means that our students generally spend around a couple of hours on each lesson. Do you think you can learn faster? Contact us to set up a faster instruction programme .
How often should I have my driving lessons?
We understand that schedules differ from individual to individual. However, if you can get at least two hours of driving training every week, it will be sufficient. You can decide to keep this schedule if it suits you. Or you can opt for a more flexible schedule, which we’ll be more than happy to accommodate. If you prefer back to back training each day, this can speed up your learning process, and help you prepare for the driving test that little bit faster. Regardless of your schedule, we can put together a programme that best suits your needs.

Can I have lessons in my own car?
Under certain circumstances, you might want to receive driving lessons in your car. We are amenable to this because we believe training with your own car can be helpful if you intend on taking the driving test with that same car. It might also be the case of you owning a new car and trying to familiarise yourself with it. Whatever the reason, at Smart Drive UK, we are able to offer our customers driving lessons in their own car. But this type of service is only available to clients with registered and comprehensively insured roadworthy vehicles. A notification will be sent to your car insurance company concerning your vehicle being used for driving lessons, and verification of the valid registration of your car can be performed by one of our instructors.
Can I have more than one lesson a week?
If you have enough time for multiple driving lessons per week, you are welcome to take advantage of all the time at your disposal. At Smart Drive UK, we have both fixed and flexible schedules that can accommodate everyone. If your plan is to speed up the learning process by having multiple lessons in a week, we can arrange that. What matters to us is that you learn at your own pace and are sufficiently prepared to pass your driving test on the first try. The impressive first time pass rate of our students is a clear indication you’re in capable hands with Smart Drive UK, regardless of the schedule or learning speed you choose.

What is Pass Plus?
The Pass Plus scheme is targeted at drivers in the UK who have recently successfully passed their driving test. One of the problems new drivers face is finding the confidence to drive on the roads. Thankfully, Smart Drive UK can be there to turn you into a more mature and confident driver once you successfully conclude your driving test. Pass Plus training lets you leave your usual roads to experience other roads first hand, after your initial training has familiarised you with major road conditions. Do you have any questions? Contact us by phone for a friendly chat about our Pass Plus scheme.
New Hazard Perception Test
You can’t pass the UK driving test without passing the Hazard Perception Test. It is a compulsory test that has to be passed before you can be granted a full driver’s license. During the test, various videos depicting normal road scenes and a developing hazard will be shown to you. You need to respond appropriately to the developing hazard to pass the test. The Hazard Perception Test comes before the practical driving test at the DVLA, and we have all the materials and information you need to pass the Hazard Perception Test on your first try. Our trainers will guide you with our collection of Hazard Perception videos and revision questions, to fully prepare you on what to expect.

What tests do I need to pass before I get my license?
Mock theory test
Passing your driving test has just been made easier, so don’t fret. Smart Drive UK helps you get ready for the DVLA driving test by providing mock theory test practice. In order to qualify for the actual theory test, you need to pass the DVLA theory practice test and passing our mock test means you can do it.
Take your driving test in Greet
You can only get your driver’s license after you have taken the official DVLA test. We are confident that after attending any of our driving courses, you’ll have what it takes to pass the test on the first attempt. The hundreds of customers who have used our service and passed the test the first time provide sufficient evidence that our courses are designed to deliver results.
Booking your driving test
What do I have to do to book a test?
It’s recommended you book the driving test via the official Gov.UK website. It is more cost-effective to avoid booking through a third-party website. Before booking the driving test, you must first have passed the hazard perception test and theory test. Sound complicated? Don’t worry, our instructors at Smart Drive UK will be available to guide you through every stage of the process.
How long will it take before the tests are completed?
You will have to pass through the five aspects of the practical driving test: driving ability, safety questions, an eyesight check, independent driving, and vehicle reversing. It is the same process for automatic transmission as it is for manual transmission. You’ll only spend about 40 minutes taking the actual driving test.
What you should expect on the day of the test.
Before anything else, you will show your theory test and provisional license and then prove you have good eyesight by reading a number plate from a distance. Next, you will have to demonstrate your knowledge by answering a series of show and tell questions, but only if you pass the eye test. After this stage, you are required to prove to the examiner that you can successfully complete a reversing manoeuvre, plus drive safely and effectively on different types of roads. You will have to drive without guidance for about 20 minutes, in which the examiner may ask you to stop to test your ability to manage an emergency. The entire driving test should last about 40 minutes. We understand that you may be extremely nervous during the practical driving test, but remember that you have already encountered all you’ll have to do in your driving lessons.
Post-Test
Obtaining a full driving license
Well done, you have successfully completed your practical driving test. This means you are now qualified to apply for a proper driving license. Once the results of your practical driving test are sent to the DVLA, your license will be processed. Your driving license should be ready within about 21 days of completing the practical driving test. You can count on Smart Drive UK for guidance throughout the process of getting a driver’s license. Until you have been officially licensed as a qualified driver, our job is not done.
