What are the types of cars available for people like me?
Some of our students prefer to learn with automatic transmission vehicles, while others prefer to learn with manual transmission vehicles. We can cater to both groups, so the choice ultimately comes down to you. Both manual and automatic cars are common on UK roads, and either choice will work well for whatever you need it for. Can’t work out the best option for you based on your requirements? Why don’t you discuss them with us, and we can help you make a decision. (please note automatic cars are subject to availability). Call us today on 07760 767170 for expert advice.
Is it possible to start my driving lessons before I have passed the theory test?
Many people will think about passing the theory test before taking practical driving lessons. This approach isn’t wrong, as it is sensible to first understand how a car works before you begin to drive. As experts in the industry, however, we know that it is best to combine both theoretical and practical training. The combination creates a synergy which makes it easier to grasp both elements of driving training at the same time. Also, you will be better prepared for the theory test when you have started your driving lessons.
How long will it take to complete a lesson?
We know you’d like to better plan your day, so you’ll want to find out how long it will take you to complete a lesson. The length of time it will take to complete one lesson is dependent on your learning ability and how the teacher chooses to deliver the lesson. However, with our instructors, and our carefully crafted training system, you can expect to spend an average of 2 hours on each lesson. If you’d like a lesson schedule that is faster or slower, simply call us to discuss what you need.
How often should I have my driving lessons?
We understand that every individual has their unique schedule. However, if you can get at least two hours of driving training every week, it will be sufficient. If it suits your needs, you can continue your training following this schedule. But if you’d prefer a more flexible schedule, we can arrange something for you. If you prefer back to back training each day, this can speed up your learning process, and help you prepare for the driving test that little bit faster. Regardless of your schedule, we can always make arrangements to suit you.
Please fill free to call us on 08450 179 778 or Text/Call on 07760 767170.
Can I have lessons in my own car?
Certain people prefer receiving their driving training behind the wheel of their own car. This could be a great idea, especially if you intend on using your car to take the driving test. Such an arrangement could also be beneficial if the car is a new one and you are trying to familiarise yourself with it. Whatever your motive is, our experts at Smart Drive UK can have you ready for your test with training in your own car. But we can only provide this service if your car is insured, roadworthy, and registered. This will be verified through an inspection of your papers by our instructors, and after your insurance company has been notified that the car will be used for driving lessons.
Can I have more than one lesson a week?
If you have enough time for multiple driving lessons per week, you are welcome to take advantage of all the time at your disposal. This is thanks to our flexible and fixed schedules that can accommodate you, regardless your circumstance. If you prefer multiple lessons every week to speed up your learning process, we can deliver. New Hazard Perception Test
The Hazard Perception test is part of the UK theory test for learner drivers. It is a mandatory test which will determine if the driver is suitable to obtain a full driver’s license. This test involves a series of videos, detailing everyday road scenes and, in one case, a developing hazard. You need to respond appropriately to the developing hazard to pass the test. As part of our training at Smart Drive UK, we offer comprehensive preparation to all our students for the Hazard Perception Test, which comes before the practical driving test at the DVLA. At Smart Drive UK, you’ll have access to our Hazard Perception video collection, as well as a series of revision questions.

Theory Test Practice
Passing your driving test gets easier with us, as we have made provision for you to practice. Smart Drive UK helps you get ready for the DVLA driving test by providing mock theory test practice. In order to qualify for the actual theory test, you need to pass the DVLA theory practice test and passing our mock test means you can do it.
Driving Test Gerrards-Cross
You can only get your driver’s license after you have taken the official DVLA test. We are confident that after attending any of our driving courses, you’ll have what it takes to pass the test on the first attempt. Make a booking for your test
What do I have to do to book a test?
First, we suggest that you make your booking via the official Gov.UK website. You may lose money if you decide to book via a third-party website instead. Booking a driving test comes after you have passed the hazard perception test and theory test. Not clear enough? It’s not as complicated as it sounds, you’ll have Smart Drive UK instructors to guide you from day one until you get your license.
What is the duration of the tests?
For the driving test to be completed, you have to complete five steps, including vehicle reversing, independent driving, safety questions, driving ability, and an eyesight check. Both automatic and manual transmission is given the same treatment during testing. You’ll only spend about 40 minutes taking the actual driving test.
It’s test day, now what?
Before anything else, you will show your theory test and provisional license and then prove you have good eyesight by reading a number plate from a distance. If you pass this stage, you will be asked a series of ‘show and tell’ questions by the examiner to demonstrate your knowledge. Following this, you will have to prove your skills as a driver and let the examiner know that you are capable of reversing a vehicle and driving on different types of roads effectively and safely. During the test, you will be asked to engage in independent driving for about 20 minutes and the examiner may include an emergency stop. Approximately 40 minutes will be sufficient for you to complete the driving test. It is perfectly normal to be nervous during the practical driving test, but there is really nothing to it because everything you will have to do, you have already done through the course of your driving lessons.
After the test
Getting your full driving license
Well done, you have successfully completed your practical driving test. The next step is to apply for a full driving a license. The results of your practical driving test will be sent to the DVLA, where your license will be processed. You should receive your license no later than three weeks after passing the practical driving test. You can count on Smart Drive UK for guidance throughout the process of getting a driver’s license. It is only when you have become a licensed and qualified driver that we can dust our hands.
