Is it possible to pick me up from one place and drop me off at another?
If you want a driving school that affords you the convenience your busy schedule needs, then look no further. One of the things that sets us apart from the crowd is the fact that our driving instructors have no problem with picking you up for classes from anywhere you want, and will also drop you off at any location of your choosing. We understand the need for you to only want to focus on driving training, instead of how to get to the training location and back, so the driving instructor is able to, for instance, pick you up at school and drop you off at home after the session. What are the types of cars available for learning in?
Over the years, we have seen people who prefer to only learn in automatic vehicles, and we have also seen people that love the manual stick. Ultimately, you will determine the choice of car in which you’ll be learning. Whatever option you choose to go with, you will be in good company, as there are lots of manual and automatic drivers in the UK. Can’t make up your mind on one choice over the other? You can talk to us right away and we will be delighted to help (please note automatic cars are subject to availability).

Is it right to begin my driving lessons before I have passed the theory test?
Many people will tell you it’s better to pass the theory exam before taking practical driver training in High Wycombe. That thought process isn’t entirely wrong, as this method will give you adequate background knowledge on using a car before you actually get in the driver’s seat. As experts in the industry, however, we know that it is best to combine both theoretical and practical training. The combination creates a synergy which makes it easier to grasp both elements of driving training at the same time. Another advantage to starting your driving test right away, is that you will be better prepared for the theory exam.
What is the length of time for each lesson?
We know it is important for you to know the duration of each lesson, so as to better plan your day. The length of time spent on each lesson will depend on your learning ability, and the teaching methods deployed by the driving instructor. However, our system of training means that our students generally spend around a couple of hours on each lesson. Interested in a different training schedule? Call us on 07760 767170 to find out more.
How often should I have my driving lessons?
Everyone’s schedule differs. But two hours of driving training every week is the recommended minimum for learner drivers. You can decide to keep this schedule if it suits you. If, however, you want a more flexible schedule, we are always willing to accommodate you. For example, we could arrange for intensive courses, with back to back training every day that will speed up your training and have you prepared for your driving test faster. Regardless of your schedule, we can always make arrangements to suit you.

Can I have lessons in my own car?

However, this is only possible if the car is roadworthy, registered, and comprehensively insured. Your driving instructor will notify your car insurance company that your vehicle will be used for driver training in High Wycombe, and will also inspect your car to verify its valid registration.

We have the expertise and materials at Smart Drive UK to ensure you pass your Hazard Perception Test, which comes before the practical test at the DVLA. Booking your Test
How do I book a test?
Go to the official Gov.UK website to book your driving test. Booking through a third-party website can end up costing you more. You need to have passed the theory test and hazard perception test before you book your driving test. Sound confusing? The process will get clearer when you work with our instructors at Smart Drive UK, who will guide you from day one.
How long do the tests take?
The practical driving test is broken into five parts: an eyesight check, safety questions, driving ability, vehicle reversing, and independent driving. Whether you are testing for automatic or manual transmission, it’s the same process. The driving test takes less than an hour, specifically 40 minutes.
It’s test day, now what?
Before anything else, you will show your theory test and provisional license and then prove you have good eyesight by reading a number plate from a distance. Next, you will have to demonstrate your knowledge by answering a series of show and tell questions, but only if you pass the eye test. Following this, you will have to prove your skills as a driver and let the examiner know that you are capable of reversing a vehicle and driving on different types of roads effectively and safely. You will have to drive without guidance for about 20 minutes, in which the examiner may ask you to stop to test your ability to manage an emergency. The entire driving test should last about 40 minutes. We understand that you may be extremely nervous during the practical driving test, but remember that you have already encountered all you’ll have to do in your driver training.
Post-Test
What to expect before obtaining your full driving license
Great job acing that practical driving test. This means you are now qualified to apply for a proper driving license. The examiner will send the results of your practical driving test to the DVLA, who will process your license. Within three weeks of completing the practical test, you should receive your license. In order to ensure you have all the assistance you need, we at Smart Drive UK are always available to guide you through the process of obtaining a driving license. We are not done until you have been licensed as a qualified driver.
